Golf
Eight golf courses within an hour's drive, from designs by Nicklaus and Ballesteros to smaller courses with sea views. If you would rather take it easy, play at Club de Golf Jávea or Altea, smaller nine-hole courses, with Altea offering a beautiful view of the Mediterranean. Ellen and Aletta went before you. Or you go and practise on a pitch and putt course. The best time to play golf here is from September through to June.
Golf courses in the area
Just 15 minutes' drive from the finca lies Ifach Golf, and within 30 minutes you can be in Oliva, Jávea, Altea or at La Sella in Jesús Pobre. The last one in particular is very demanding and spectacular for experienced golfers.
Other courses in the area: Real de Faula in Benidorm (20 km), Golf de Jávea in Xàbia/Jávea (22 km), Golf Oliva in Oliva (35 km), Bonalba near Alicante (80 km).
You can of course mix things up. A golf day, or part of one, can be combined with other activities, and there are options enough. Petanca or a visit to the castle of Dénia is possible, for a cultural touch. Or a two to four hour walk into the mountains with a packed lunch, and a cold drink at the café afterwards.

Here are a number of courses in our area, with my personal experience of each. Green fees range from €65 to €95 for 18 holes. On some courses a buggy is compulsory; on other 18-hole courses it is highly advisable.
Villaitana Levante - Benidorm - (30 min.)
There is room on at least one side of the fairway, which makes the course very playable. Annoying bunkers exactly where your ball always lands.

Club de Golf Jávea - Jávea (25 min.)
Not much change in elevation and forgiving among the palms, orange trees and pines. There are 34 bunkers, though.

Oliva Nova - Oliva (35 min.)
An atmospheric course near the coast without much elevation change. Tricky water features that you need to take carefully into account.

Font del Llop - Alicante (70 min.)
The longer drive is well worth it for these 18 holes. Demanding, beautiful and enjoyable. Narrow downhill fairways, so a course for players who can keep their cool.

Villaitana Poniente - Benidorm (30 min.)
A short course, par 4s and 3s only. You almost always have to carry an obstacle to reach the green. Challenging, and your short game will be tested. Bring plenty of balls, or go looking when you lose one and find several in return.

La Sella Golf - Jesús Pobre (25 min.)
Long, fairly narrow fairways and many dog legs make this course demanding. With 27 holes you can be surprised several times by a different combination on your round.

Altea Golf Club (Don Cayo Club) - Altea (25 min.)
A very undulating course, where your ball can roll off the green even on a putt. It sits beneath the Bérnia massif with views of the Mediterranean. Not easy, which is why two rounds of 9 holes work well here. The tee box positions are substantially different on the second nine.

El Plantío - Alicante (60 min.)
This course is worth the longer drive. Quite a lot of water and beautiful rolling fairways where the ball does like to run downhill.

Casita
A private cottage with a bedroom, bathroom and a room with a kitchenette. From the terrace, down the steps to the pool.
Lodge
A spacious, characterful chalet with its own entrance and parking space. From the terrace, a wide view over the wine valley. The most privacy.
