Kara joins the team
We have a new housemate: Kara, a jet-black kitten of five months. Plus pruning in the garden, an unforgettable Olive week and a look ahead to the season.
We have taken in a new housemate: Kara, a kitten of five months old, jet black and probably abandoned for exactly that reason. Black cats, you know the saying.
Kara joins the team
For the first two weeks Pinot was rather unhappy about this decision, without realising that he simply remained the boss. By now they play and sleep together, and Pinot helps Kara find her way around the garden.
The first meeting with the chickens was exciting for both sides. When Kara comes near, the ladies have plenty to say, but that is as far as it goes. Stalking those big birds remains hugely interesting, of course.
Into the garden under Pinot's guidance
Step by step, Kara is expanding her world. From the safety of a shoulder, she moved on to the rocks in the garden, always under Pinot’s watchful eye.
Pruning makes things grow
It is time to prune. This year the carob trees are getting their turn. Pruning makes things grow, but it stays nerve-wracking when you saw away so much; in a few months we will know whether it paid off.
The lemon tree knows no season
Our lemon tree pays no attention to the seasons. For more than a year on end it carries blossom and fruit at the same time. And then, in its own time, it rests for a few months.
Quite understandable, because we supply more or less the whole valley with lemons. In return, a bag of persimmons, oranges or loquats regularly hangs on our gate.
Olive week 2025, unforgettable
This year we were able to pick olives again, in a beautiful grove that we may harvest once more next year. Together with the participants and some help from the valley, we gathered almost 1,000 kilos of olives.
The yield was just under 15%, lower than we are used to, as it was for the other growers at the press. Probably because the trees gave nothing at all last year and now had to get going again: plenty of fruit, but with a little less oil.

We organise various group weeks and have years of experience with them by now. Every time, the participants thoroughly enjoy themselves. We stay at Finca Lliber and head out from there into the mountains for a hike, to the padel or golf course and to the coast.
Wonderful food in one of the local restaurants and, above all, enjoying being together. Prefer a tailor-made week for you and your friends? That is possible too.
Hike week, hardy walking
Next spring, from 23 to 27 March, we are once again organising the successful Hike week. We hike for three days and climb the most beautiful mountains in the immediate area, with views from the ridges at 1,000 metres all the way to the sea. Often we can even see Ibiza in the distance.
Last year every bed was taken, so do not wait too long to sign up.
Padel in Spain
Padel is wildly popular, in the Netherlands too. Here in Spain it is the most played sport after football; every village has courts, usually outdoors, and you can often book on the day itself. There are good coaches to fine-tune your technique.
Gather a few friends, come and play, and we will arrange local opponents and turn it into a tournament.
